I’m a beginner yogi.

You gotta walk before you run, but sometimes you can just run and see what happens. If this sounds like you, head straight to the hip hop classes and take a mat towards the back. If you want to take it easy for your first time around, check out our chill and yin classes.

What is hip hop yoga?

It’s a celebration of yoga and music! A fast paced, dynamic Vinyasa style yoga class set to uplifting old and new hip hop music.

Why the pineapples?

Because Wildhen said so.

I’m nervous.

Don’t be! We love every yogi of every shape and size. At our studio there is no competition, we are all about having fun, letting go and being happy.

Why music?

Would you dance with out music? We feel the same way about yoga. We use music as a tool to ease the mind into a calm state. Your mind is very naughty and stubborn and takes a little convincing to slow down.

How often is the music updated?

Every week. Any suggestions send them through to info(a)yoga213.com.au.

Do I still get all the same benefits as normal yoga?

Yes but its just way more fun and less serious.

Is Hip Hop still relaxing?

At the end it is. We relax with a 5 – 10 minute savasana at the end of each hip hop class. If you want to be super relaxed we recommend taking our Yin or Chill classes. These classes work with a slower paced sound track through out and are great for reducing anxiety and stress.

Why should I try it?

If you think normal yoga is boring. If you love music. If you fantasize about marrying Jay Z. If you like pineapples. If you love yoga and your ready to take your practice to the next level!

Can I dance?

There is no dancing in our sequences, although we encourage you to take all spontaneous urges to twerk or dougie.

What should I bring?

We supply mats, although you are free to bring your own. We have water and coconut water for sale. You can hire a towel for yoga or shower!

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 10 – 15 minutes early to get down and settle in. The studio opens 15 minutes before every advertised class start time.

How early does the studio open before class?

The studio is opened 15 minutes prior to all advertised class times. And the door locks right on the advertised class time.

Is it hot?

Although we are not ‘hot yoga’ we heat the room with radiant heaters to give you that little boost of heat at the start of class. The studio room sits at a temperature of around 25 degrees, sometimes hotter at the peak class times.

What are the peak class times?

We peak early mornings and late at night during the week and all classes on the weekends.

Where do I park?

For our Richmond studio there is street parking on Carroll, Stanley and Lennox Streets. There is also paid parking that runs on both sides of Swan Street for a few dollars during the day. If you get really stuck, head to the Coles car park across the road.

For our Geelong studio we have our own private car park with 7 car spaces if you arrive early, otherwise there is street parking on Lambert Avenue and Gregory avenue near the oval.

How long are the classes?

All our classes are 60 minutes except for yin on Sunday night which is 75 minutes and hip hop 45 on Wednesdays and Fridays in Richmond which are 45 minutes.

What pass is the best value?

We recommend trying out the 2 week Intro offer for $30 in Richmond and $25 in Geelong to get you started. From here we recommend signing up to our weekly auto-pay memberships with unlimited classes and challenges for $40 in Richmond and $30 in Geelong per week.

Should I book online?

Yes, it’s best to book online to avoid disappointment. Download the Yoga 213 app via the Appstore for easy bookings.

What if I am injured?

Let the teacher know at the front desk and they will guide you through a safe practice!
